Jonathan and the Golden Lion. Book one in a series of four
The above link will take you to a PDF version of the first three chapters of my first novel. The four volume Jonathan Adventure Series was inspired by bedtime stories I told my children when they were young. Most of them were about a young boy who went on Medieval adventures and became a Page, then a Squire and finally a Knight. I had not anticipated the books taking the twists they have and becoming such a part of my life. Book one is about Jonathan's adventures aboard a 14th century armed merchant ship. It is as historically accurate as our limited understanding and modern knowledge of the times can give us. However, since the writing of the book was completed, more discoveries have been made that support my assumptions and reconfirm my theories of ship construction and navel battle evolution. Very exciting!
Most of the illustrations for the books are included here in the carousel.
I hope you enjoy this sample and are inspired to learn more of Jonathan and his Adventures. I am hoping to publish the completed work in the near future.
Jonathan and the Teutonic Knight. Book two in a series of four
The link above will take you to a PDF version of the first three Chapters of my second novel, Jonathan and the Teutonic Knight. This picture carousel includes illustrations created for the book thus far. I will load more as they are completed.
In the second book of the series, Jonathan is now in his early teens and living near a castle town of Plympton Erle in the south of Devon, England. Baron Sir Hugh de Courtenay, a Knight of England is his benefactor. Jonathan has been allowed to do combat training with a Teutonic (German) mercenary knight. However, our young hero is not accepted by the other high-born trainees and is bullied and harassed because of his social class and reputation for being a sea bandit. (The term PIRATE was not invented until the 17th century.) His adventures take him to France where he participates in skirmishes under the command of Sir John Chandos and his experiences at the siege and battle of Auray. (September 29th, 1364)
There are more historical characters and actual events portrayed in this novel, which I am still in the process of researching and writing.
